Community Cleanup in Uribia

On August 24, 2022, a successful Cleanup Day was held in the municipality of Uribia, La Guajira, as part of the national strategy “Colombia Limpia” and the campaign “La Vamo’ a Limpiá” by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Tourism and Fontur. On the day of the event, we managed to collect more than 1860 kilograms of solid waste with 103 participants from La Guajira. In addition to this, during the activity, we raised awareness among the local community and explained topics related to environmental care. We installed an ecological point at the event location to facilitate the collection of reusable waste and to inform residents and visitors. The event was successful thanks to the collaboration between the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Tourism, FONTUR, Marce la Recicladora, Jouktai Foundation, the support from the governorship of La Guajira through the Department of Tourism, the municipal mayor’s office, the participation of the school, the army, friends of tourism, environmental foundations, and members of the communities themselves.

Community Cleanup in Riohacha

On June 1st, 2022, a successful cleanup day took place in the tourist municipality of Riohacha, La Guajira, as part of the national strategy “Colombia Limpia” and the campaign “La Vamo’ a Limpiá” by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Tourism and Fontur. On this day, we managed to collect more than 80 kilograms of solid waste with nearly 100 participants from Riohacha. Additionally, during the activity, we raised awareness among the local community and discussed topics related to environmental care. An ecological point was set up on the beach next to the pier. The success of the day was made possible through the collaborative efforts of FONTUR, the Jouktai Foundation, the support of the La Guajira governorship through the Departmental Tourism Directorate, the municipal mayor’s office, the participation of the school, tourism friends, tourism entrepreneurs, recycling associations, and members of the same communities.
