On August 24, 2022, a successful Cleanup Day was held in the municipality of Uribia, La Guajira, as part of the national strategy “Colombia Limpia” and the campaign “La Vamo’ a Limpiá” by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Tourism and Fontur. On the day of the event, we managed to collect more than 1860 kilograms of solid waste with 103 participants from La Guajira. In addition to this, during the activity, we raised awareness among the local community and explained topics related to environmental care. We installed an ecological point at the event location to facilitate the collection of reusable waste and to inform residents and visitors. The event was successful thanks to the collaboration between the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Tourism, FONTUR, Marce la Recicladora, Jouktai Foundation, the support from the governorship of La Guajira through the Department of Tourism, the municipal mayor’s office, the participation of the school, the army, friends of tourism, environmental foundations, and members of the communities themselves.
