About Us

Our story

The start of Jouktai Foundation – Wind Runners dates back to 2018, yet our journey towards our objectives commenced in 2011. It all started with Sophie and Martin establishing the first Kiteboarding school in Cabo de la Vela. Our passion for Kiteboarding, an exhilarating sport reliant on the wind, ignited our love for the sea. Upon our arrival in Cabo de la Vela, situated amidst the desert, we encountered initial challenges. Initially, tourism thrived only during peak seasons until the revelation that it was an ideal location for Kiteboarding emerged.

The sport captured the attention of the region’s youth, leading to the establishment of the Jouktai Foundation, dedicated to youth development through Kiteboarding. One of our early participants, Adalberto “Beto,” continues to excel in international kitesurfing competitions, earning global recognition. Transitioning from traditional activities like fishing and craftsmanship, these young individuals have become the architects of their own destinies, embracing broader horizons and greater opportunities. With the establishment of 5 Kite schools, they’ve ushered in a new era of sustainable tourism, ensuring year-round vibrancy and economic growth.

In 2018, our daughter Amelie entered our lives, bringing a profound transformation to our world. We relocated from Cabo de la Vela to Riohacha to embark on this new journey, imparting and cultivating our deep passion for the sport among the youth of Riohacha and Mayapo. Presently, the foundation operates it’s activities along the second beach of Mayapo in the Maliwala Sector, La Guajira, Colombia.
